Best Treadmill Shock Absorption in 2022

NordicTrack Commercial 2450

This treadmill delivers on everything: power, technology, durability, and convenience—and gets first place on our list of best treadmills with TV and internet.

Fantastic viewing experience

Theis has a 14-inch screen, which you can swivel the screen to the most comfortable viewing angle. The built-in Bluetooth speakers look and sound great.

Comfortable running surface

The belt is 22 inches wide and 60 inches long—giving you much more room than other treadmills.   It’s made with Nordic Track’s patented Runner’s Flex cushioning to protect your joints, and textured to provide a good grip on your shoes.

Even when we were running it at maximum speeds, the belt wasn’t shaky and stayed on its balanced flex rollers. You can definitely feel its stability. We also like that it wasn’t noisy, thanks to the Quiet Drive Incline technology: all you’ll hear is the quiet whirr of the motor.

Powerful motor and capacity

This treadmill is equipped with the 4.0 CHP DurX Commercial Plus motor, which is actually more powerful than the motors used in treadmills in local gyms. This makes it an ideal choice for serious runners who want long and strong workouts—it can take a beating, just like you.

The maximum weight capacity is 300 pounds.

Good range of inclines and speeds.

The treadmill can be adjusted from a -3% decline to a 15% incline, which will let you mimic the experience of going up and down hills. You’ll feel the burn in those glutes!   The maximum speed is 12, which is the highest in treadmills in this price range.

Designed for convenience

All NordicTrack treadmills have a patented SpaceSaver design. The deck folds up when not in use, and the hydraulic design does all the heavy lifting for you. Just kick the yellow section of the bar to release the deck, and it will automatically lower.

We also like other details, from the lower step height so it’s easy to get on the treadmill, and even the extra large cup holders. They thought of everything!

Free iFit membership

This treadmill comes with 50+ onboard workouts, and a free one-year iFit family membership. iFIt has tons of workouts including walking, hiking, walk-run intervals, and running. You can even join live classes or events like 4k marathons.

The iFit family membership allows 5 individual profiles. iFit “remembers” the fitness history of each profile, i.e., number of miles you’ve run, past workouts, and intensity levels.

Cons

Even though it’s foldable, the bulky frame will take up a lot of floor space, so it’s not the best choice for a small apartment or a narrow room. We also wish that there was a place to prop up a tablet, a feature that is found in other Nordic Track models.

NordicTrack Commercial 2950

If a screen size is important to you, then this is the best treadmill for you. The larger screen provides a more immersive viewing experience, and is considered one of the top-of-the-line models in the NordicTrack Commercial range.

Bigger screen, bigger sounds

You get a 22” high-definition touch screen and advanced graphics processing. With this very big, very vivid picture display, you can watch your shows while burning calories—it’s a win-win.

The treadmill also has two digitally amplified speakers that are Blue-tooth enabled. You can listen to music, podcasts and audiobooks. You can also connect to other audio sources with a 3.5mm audio cable, or wired headphones.

The treadmill also has dual-band WIFI compatibility, for seamless and uninterrupted viewing.

Free iFit membership

The bigger screen is the perfect way to enjoy the free iFit membership, which serves up hundreds of walking, running and hiking workouts. The workouts are filmed in various locations around the world. Imagine that you’re hiking up the Swiss alps, or exploring French castles. Join live events like the Boston marathon, and feel like you’re really there.

iFit also allow has an archive of Google Maps workouts, and you can even create your own by signing in to the app or visiting the website.

The Best Cardio Workouts for Gym and Home

While the iFit is available for other NordicTrack treadmills, the larger screen definitely maximizes this feature. And since the treadmill will automatically adjust incline and speed, you can just focus on enjoying your workout—and imagine that you’re actually walking or running next to your trainer.

When you select the On-Air tab, you also get to join live classes and events, or see the other people who are trying the same workout as you are on the leaderboard.

Advanced cushioning

We’ve always liked NordicTrack’s cushioning: their treadmills always feel easier on the feet and joints. But this model offers an additional bonus, due to the Reflex suspension system. Just flip a switch, and you can adjust the cushioning so it’s more padded or feels more like a road-like surface.

Powerful but quiet performance

Many large, powerful treadmills can sound like a bulldozer, which definitely won’t make you popular with your neighbors.

However, even if the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 has a powerful 4.25 CHP motor—excellent for treadmills in this price range—it’s equipped with a patented WhisperQuiet Deck. The material absorbs the sound of your feet, and muffles the very minimal sound of the motor.

So if you’re getting an early morning workout, you know you won’t wake up anyone, even if you’re living in a small apartment.

Set for success

You can hit your fitness goals, thanks to a wide range of inclines and speeds. It goes from -3% to 15% incline, and can reach a speed of 12. It even has pre-loaded workouts for different fitness levels, including HIIT workouts that can really make you break a sweat.

On the downside, this model has less pre-loaded workouts than the NordickTrack 2450. You won’t really care if you’re using the iFit membership, but bear in mind that you have to pay for the subscription after the first year.

Built for heavy-duty use

If you’re going to spend nearly $3,000 on a treadmill, you want to make sure that it’s going to last for a very long time. Rest assured that the NordicTrack Commercial 2950 is built to last, even for serious runners who plan to regularly max out its speeds and inclines.

The treadbelt is two-ply for better durability, and the balanced non-flex rollers minimize the wear and tear.

The belt feels stable and has a good grip, which is essential when you’re trying out the high inclines and speeds. When the treadmill rapidly changes inclines—for example, when you’re doing a hike—the transition is very smooth and natural.

NordicTrack also offers a 10 year warranty on frames, and 2 years on parts and electronics. If there’s a problem, you can contact them through customer service.

Feel the breeze on your face

The NordicTrack comes with an Autobreeze feature, or three workout fans that help cool your face and body.

These fans automatically adjust according to your pace (mimicking the feeling of the breeze hitting your face as you run) or you can manually adjust them according to your preference.

Cons

This is an excellent treadmill, but considering its power and its price tag, we wish that it had been modified to take on more than 300 pounds as its maximum weight.

Plus, with its high-tech components – from the internal mechanisms to the TV screen – there comes the risk of technical problems. Unfortunately, Nordic Track has notoriously slow customer service. If only their tech support were as fast as the treadmill!

NordicTrack Commercial 1750

If you want a good treadmill with a TV, but are working with a smaller budget, look into the NordicTrack Commercial 1750.

It is as durable and as comfortable the more premium models in the Commercial Range, but it has a smaller motor and a simpler screen.

It’s a good choice if you’re not really looking for a very heavy-duty treadmill—for example, you’ll be the only one using it, or you’re not foreseeing hours of intense running. If cardio is only a part of your workout, this may actually be more cost-effective than the other NordicTrack models.

Sturdy, durable frame

It’s risky to buy a cheap treadmill from an untrustworthy brand just to save a couple of bucks. Inferior materials and a rickety frame will eventually cause it to break down, and it will often feel unstable when you run.

With NordicTrack Commercial 1750, you get a treadmill that you can count on. The base is made of steel side and cross beams, which keep the deck stabilized even when running at high speeds or incines, or carrying heavier weights.

Four solid springs support the base but keep it flexible, and the steel feet hold the treadmill securely when it’s folded up.

It also has a 2-ply deck, which provides better cushion, lasts longer, and has a better grip. This treadmill will last you for years, and all you need to do is wipe it down and it will be as good as new.

Less fatigue and injury

The patented Runner’s Flex Cushioning reduce the impact on your feet by 30%. This feature alone already makes this treadmill worth the money, because it can prevent fatigue and injury that will lower your performance and may even lead to expensive medical treatments.

Designed for your comfort and safety

There are two things that make this treadmill a good choice for people with joint pains or limited strength.

First, the deck is only 10 inches higher than the floor, so you can step on it with minimal strain. Second, the automatic hydraulic system enables you to easily lift and lower the deck: just kick on the bar, and it does the rest. You only have to lightly support it with your hand—not actually carry it, but cushion it as it hits the floor.

Small but high-quality screen

This treadmill has a 10” high-definition touch screen with good processing speed. Though it’s smaller than other NordicTrack models, you can still get a lot of crisp, vibrant images at the perfect level of brightness.

You can also adjust the screen angle to avoid reflective overhead light, or so it’s at a comfortable eye level when you run.

The sound system isn’t that bad, either. It comes equipped with dual 3” amplified speakers. You can hear the trainer instructions loud and clear, or you can sync the sound with wireless headphones so you don’t disturb other people.

Easy, convenient controls

The control panel is set up so you can quickly adjust the treadmills mid-stride. The Quick Touch controls are found on both sides of the screen, so you can change Incline and Speed in one press. Incline ranges from -3% to 12%, and speed reaches up to 12.

At the bottom, you can find the volume and the fan control buttons and the jack for the headphones. There are even manual control bottons, which can adjust incline and speed at smaller increments.

For your safety, the Stop button and safety key are set in the center, and there’s a front grip bar which you can hold for stability, or check your EKG heart rate.

We also like how it gives extra storage space, like a bar when you can rest a tablet (in case you prefer to watch something on your own device), extra roomy pockets for a phone or water bottle, and lower shelf storage where you can put a towel, hand weights, or other knick-knacks.

Extra cooling

Below the screen, you’ll see dual fans that will help keep you cool while you run. They’re more powerful than the fans you’ll find in cheaper treadmills, which frankly are so weak that we don’t even know why they bother having them. But with NordicTrack, you get a substantial breeze without any loud, annoying whirring sounds.

Free iFit membership

We’re ecstatic that this treadmill still comes with the free iFit membership, even if it is at a lower price point. The fun workouts will definitely motivate you to keep exercising—and though the screen is smaller, you’ll still be able to enjoy the views.

Just like the other NordicTrack treadmills, you get one-year access to thousands of workouts ranging from outdoor training sessions, studio-based classes, live classes, and live events. You can renew your membership once it expires.

Quieter than other treadmills

Because of the stable construction, high quality cushioning, and overall design, the NordicTrack is considerably less quiet than other treadmills. Even when we were running at a fast pace with the fans on at full blast, you just hear a very low whirr and light steps.

You can hear a low rumble when the treadmill adjusts incline, but it definitely won’t be heard by someone in another room.

Cons

Unfortunately, this treadmill does not have built-in workouts. You’ll have to look for manual workouts or pay for an iFit membership—something to factor in when you calculate your fitness budget.

NordicTrack T 8.5 S Treadmill

If you’re looking to save a little bit more, you can consider this model, which is like the NordicTrack’s 9.5 S’s little brother.

It has the same construction and features—such as the continuous horsepower, advanced cushioning, built-in training programs, and free iFit membership—with the only difference being that it has a smaller screen and motor.

This has a 10 inch screen, which is similar to a compact tablet. The quality of the images are still great, but noticeably smaller. That’s not a bad thing if you’re just looking for a basic screen so you can watch something while you run—without the bells and whistles of HD graphics or huge, immersive views.

The motor is a little less powerful (3.5, instead of 3.6). Again, this is not a deal-breaker if you’re not foreseeing a lot of heavy, intensive use. For casual exercise, this is perfect. And with NordicTrack’s history of using quality materials and construction, you know that this is a sturdy machine that you can use for decades.

Cons

This treadmill is not built for heavy training. If you do become serious about running later on, and start using it longer and at higher speeds, you may become frustrated by the limited features. Always consider your long-term goals.

ProForm Pro 9000 Treadmill with Screen

Ready to splurge on your treadmill? The ProForm is designed for very serious runners who want a lot of power, a lot of space, and a lot of features.

Largest running space

This treadmill has a huge belt surface area of 60″ long and 22″ wide. You’ve got plenty of room to make long strides or even stretch your arms in the middle of your workout.

Powerful motor

The treadmill is equipped with a high-capacity 4.25 CHP Mach Z commercial plus motor, which can withstand a lot of heavy use and hold heavier weight without breaking a sweat. It is so durable and powerful that some small gyms or spas use this machine—it may be a “residential” treadmill, but it can withstand light commercial use.

Large, high-quality screen

Get a fully immersive viewing experience with a 22” screen with bright, crisp high-definition screen. And since the treadmill also lets you browse through Chrome, you can pick whatever you want to watch, from Netflix shows, to evening news, to the latest exercise tips of your favorite Youtube fitness influencers.

Free iFit membership

You get a free one-year family membership for iFit, which supports up to five profiles. With a 22” screen, you can really enjoy a detailed view of their outdoor workouts, or get side-by-side views of the live workout and leaderboard stats with room to spare.

Cons

One of our pet peeves with this treadmill is the stability of the console. When running at high speeds, the screen can shake a little. It is very distracting, and disappointing for such a premium treadmill.

Best Stationary Bikes with Moving Arms in 2022

We would also have wanted a treadmill that could support weights heavier than 300 pounds. Considering its price, it should have the weight capacity of commercial treadmills that can take up to 300 to 500 pounds.

Buying Guide

You can’t go wrong with this list of the best treadmills with TVs: all the products we reviewed are tried and tested, and best in class. However, the choice of the best treadmill for you does depend on a number of factors. While shopping, be sure to consider:

  • Type of training. How many people will be using it? How long and intense are the workouts, and do you foresee using the treadmill at its maximum capacities for several hours a day?
  • Size. How much space do you have in your exercise area?
  • Budget. How much are you willing to spend? Be sure to factor in the cost of shipping and taxes.
  • Screen requirements. If you plan to watch movies, you may want to invest in a bigger screen. If you plan to use the screen mainly for workouts and occasional viewing, then you may be happier with a smaller display.

FAQ best treadmills with TV screens

Are treadmills easy to assemble?

Each treadmill will include instructions that are easy to follow. However, the pieces are quite heavy and may require some tools. It may take two people to put it together, in order to lift the pieces and hold it in place.

How long is the treadmill warranty?

For frames and parts, NordicTrack has a 10-year frame warranty, and Pro-Form has a 5 year warranty. Both only offer a one-year warranty for labor. You may be able to apply for an extended warranty.

Can the TV screens be removed or replaced?

No, the screens are difficult to remove from the treadmills, and if you attempt to do so, it will void any warranty.

Verdict

The NordicTrack and the ProForm treadmills offer fantastic value for money. Though they are more expensive, the quality of construction and the free iFit memberships will ensure that your workouts are more fun, engaging, comfortable, and safe.
